The Author

CAROL HART METZKER is an anti-human trafficking activist, ┬ásurvivor-ally, educator, TEDx speaker, coauthor of Appreciative Intelligence: Seeing the Mighty Oak in the Acorn and author of Facing the Monster: How One Person Can Fight Child Slavery. She earned a master’s degree from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree from Penn State. She is a recipient of Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award, a WCPL Literacy Hero award, a Stokes-Hodgson Community Service Award, Marie Whitaker Humanitarian Award 2016, a YWCA Exceptional Woman 2016 award and 2017 Chester County Fund for Women and Girls Kitchen Table Award. Her husband and two daughters join her on projects to aid survivors of slavery and human trafficking.

She consults to The Salvation Army’s New Day to Stop Trafficking program, volunteers with survivors and was a TEDx speaker: “The Cost of Human Trafficking: Believing the Sky is Purple.”

Carol is currently working with survivor Ann Marie Jones on a book, Shield Against the Monster: Protecting Children from Human Trafficking.
